FDA approves Teva's generic Risperdal

NORTH WALES, Pa. Teva Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for a generic version of Johnson & Johnson’s antipsychotic drug Risperdal.

Teva has 180-days of market exclusivity for the drug and will offer the generic, Risperidone in 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg and 4 mg strengths, in bottle sizes of 60.

The drug had sales in the U.S. of $2.5 billion in 2007.
