FDA expands Levaquin approval for toddlers
WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration has approved Ortho-McNeil’s antibiotic medication Levaquin for the treatment of inhalational anthrax in pediatric patients aged 6 months and older.
The approval is for all forms of the medication, which include tablets, injection and an oral solution. The drug is also used to treat lung, sinus, skin and urinary tract infections.
The drug has sales of over $1.4 billion in 2007, according to the FDA.
