9/28/2009

ARLINGTON, Va. An organization representing the country’s generic-drug manufacturers has created a new executive position.

The Generic Pharmaceutical Association announced Monday the appointment of Bill Head to the position of SVP government affairs. In the position, Head will be responsible for developing the organization’s federal legislative strategies and coordinating its lobbying efforts with member companies and coalitions, reporting to president and CEO Kathleen Jaeger.

Head most recently served as VP federal government affairs of Medco Health Solutions, beginning in 2006, having previously served as VP policy and government affairs for the National Alliance for Health Information Technology.

“Bill has an extraordinary track record in healthcare policy and generic pharmaceuticals,” Jaeger said in a statement. “We look forward to his guidance as we continue to advance the role that generic medicines play in reducing America’s healthcare costs while expanding access to quality care.”
