Garden State Pharmacy owners, Horizon launch immunization program
Many independent pharmacies across New Jersey will be able to offer over two dozen types of immunizations to patients covered by Horizon commercial insurance, thanks to an arrangement between Garden State Pharmacy Owners and Horizon Healthcare Services.
Developed by GSPO’s Select Solutions subsidiary, the program will enable participating pharmacies to vaccinate Horizon members and receive reimbursements without having to negotiate a separate insurer agreement.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for independent pharmacies to help Horizon keep its members healthy,” said Marty Miller, GSPO’s executive director. “The program adds a new level of convenience, in that covered members can get vaccinated in familiar, local settings that they already trust for their healthcare needs. And for independent pharmacies, it’s simply an extension of the customer-focused service they provide every day.”
Horizon members may consult with their local, community pharmacy to confirm program participation.
Using a dedicated ID number, participating pharmacies will submit claims for vaccines given to Horizon commercial members. Once claims have been approved, Horizon will send reimbursements to Select Solutions, which will then distribute payments directly to the pharmacies.
“For independent pharmacies that are GSPO members, this is an exciting new program. And our organization has done the necessary leg work,” Miller said.
