Genoa opens 300th pharmacy inside community mental health center

5/27/2016

TUKWILA, Wash. — Genoa, a QoL Healthcare Company, opened its 300th pharmacy in Tamarac, Fla. inside Henderson Behavioral Health. The company said that an on-site pharmacy in mental health centers can improve adherence by dispensing medication in the same place they receive their care.

Genoa pharmacists and technicians work closely with prescribers, nurses, and caseworkers at behavioral health clinics to provide care to patients. They also are able to develop a relationship wit their patients by understanding the needs and challenges of people with mental illness and can offer medication management options.

“Our country needs an increased focus on providing care for those suffering with mental health challenges,” Genoa CEO John Figueroa said. "Genoa is committed to partnering with behavioral health organizations to help people with mental illnesses and addictions overcome the many barriers they face and improve their lives. The tremendous growth we've achieved in the past few years is a testament to the innovative ways we help people on their path to recovery. We are excited to celebrate our milestone 300th pharmacy opening with Henderson."

Besides its pharmacy growth, Genoa has expanded in recent years, adding a telepsychiatry service to help address a national shortage of psychiatrists.
