Good Neighbor Pharmacy, PrescribeWellness kick off road trip to 8 Alaska pharmacies

6/5/2017

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Good Neighbor Pharmacy and PrescribeWellness recently announced the kick off of the Eight Great Pharmacies in Alaska road trip, undertaken by industry veteran Bruce Kneeland. The road trip began June 3 and goes on until June 23.

Kneeland said that he received 15 nominations for potential pharmacies to visit from the Alaska Pharmacist Association, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, PrescribeWellnes and the Western States Pharmacy Coalition.

“In selecting these pharmacies I took into consideration things like; a unique service they provide, geographic location, store size, product offering and ownership type,” Kneeland said. “My goal is to see a cross section of pharmacies and highlight a couple things each pharmacy is doing that helps make it successful.”

Over the course of the month, Kneeland will visit Bernie’s Pharmacy and Great Land Infusion Pharmacy in Anchorage, Harry Race Pharmacy in Sitka, Island Pharmacy in Ketchikan, Prescription Center Pharmacy in Fairbanks, North Pole Prescription Lab in North Pole, Ron’s Apothecary in Juneau and Soldotna Pharmacy in Soldotna. He will also see the telepharmacy that Prescription Center Pharmacy Supports in Healy.

“The pharmacies on this trip are all doing amazing things,” AmerisourceBergen VP marketing, community and specialty pharmacy Christine Lane said. “For example, one of the pharmacists on the tour administers home infusions, while another has just made an important investment to upgrade its compounding lab, and another is concentrating on medication synchronization and immunization services. Each of these pharmacists showcase the patient-minded approach to care and business that Good Neighbor Pharmacy is proud to support and recognize.”

Kneeland said the learnings from the trip will be compiled into a continuing education program that will be shared at the National Community Pharmacists Association Annual Convention in October.
