GSK makes its flu vaccine available for order online

1/11/2008

PHILADELPHIA GlaxoSmithKline announced that it is now accepting orders for its influenza virus vaccine Fluarix for the 2008-09 influenza season. Companies can order the vaccine through GSK’s website.

GSKVaccinesDirect offers customers a convenient, flexible and easy-to-use tool for flu vaccine ordering,” said David Pernock, senior vice-president of U.S. Pharmaceuticals at GSK. “GlaxoSmithKline has significantly increased the number of doses available for the U.S. market. The addition of this online ordering capability demonstrates our continued commitment to improving flu vaccine distribution strategies and helping to ensure an adequate supply of flu vaccine in the U.S.”

The company is jumping early on receiving orders for the vaccine because the American Academy of Family Physicians has been making recommendations for the last couple of years for health care professionals to pre-order their influenza vaccines early so as to increase the chances of getting the vaccine on time.
