3/10/2015

ARLINGTON, Va. ― HDMA honored former Purdue Pharma executive Stephen Seid with the 2015 Distribution Management Award for Industry Leadership.

“Steve has been a steadfast supporter of HDMA and the Center for Healthcare Supply Chain Research, and a dedicated trading partner to our distributor members for over a decade,” stated John Gray, HDMA president and CEO. “We are pleased to recognize his efforts to create lasting partnerships that led to the efficiency of the nation’s pharmaceutical supply chain.”

“Throughout his career, so many people in the industry were directly or indirectly influenced by Steve and his ideas or efforts,” said Steven Projansky, director, strategy and marketing, Purdue Pharma. “Steve’s passion for patient advocacy and commitment to customer centricity extended through his last minute at Purdue, and we are thrilled that he has been recognized by HDMA and its members.”

Seid’s career with Purdue spanned over 35 years, beginning as a sales representative and moving through field management to a national-level leadership position. As executive director of national accounts and trade relations, Seid led his team for 14 years, becoming involved across the supply chain, building strong partnerships with HDMA and its distributor members.

At Purdue, Seid led initiatives in the areas of track and trace and supply chain security, and educated retail pharmacy networks and distributors on minimizing drug diversion and opioid abuse, among other safety issues. Among other awards, he was twice recognized with AmerisourceBergen’s Manufacturer Award, and was a finalist for H. D. Smith’s Trading Partner of the Year (2007, 2014) and Contract Partner of the Year (2008). Seid also was honored with the Supplier Quality Award from Cardinal Health for seven years (2007-2014).

Seid retired from Purdue in June 2014.

An active participant in HDMA, Seid served on the REMS Advisory Committee, and through Purdue provided support for the Center for Healthcare Supply Chain Research’s CEO Roundtable Fundraiser.

Presented at the Association’s Distribution Management Conference and Expo in Orlando, Fla., the award recognizes an individual who has exhibited the highest standards of honesty and integrity, working to enhance industry relations and knowledge, as well as supply chain efficiency and security.

Recent Distribution Management Award for Industry Leadership winners include Neil Warren, formerly with Cardinal Health; and Elizabeth Gallenagh, HDMA’s SVP and general counsel.
