HealthSeeker aids diabetics with health issues via social media
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. A new interactive game that launched on Facebook this week seeks to help diabetic adults with specific lifestyle and nutritional challenges make more informed decisions about their health.
Developed by the Diabetes Hands Foundation in collaboration with Joslin Diabetes Center, with support provided by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, HealthSeeker combines a supportive social networking environment with important information on managing diabetes. The game features "missions" and "action steps" that must be completed in order to advance and achieve lifestyle goals, bringing users closer to completing the game.
“With HealthSeeker, we wanted to harness the Facebook phenomenon to help people with diabetes make necessary changes in their daily lives,” said Manny Hernandez, president, Diabetes Hands Foundation, who has been living with diabetes since 2002. “I cannot overstate how important a source of support, information and inspiration social networking tools like this one can be for someone living with a chronic condition like diabetes.”
HealthSeeker can be accessed free of charge at HealthSeekerGame.org. The game was designed by Ayogo Games.
