I-trax's CHD Meridian to open new center in Wyoming

CHADDS FORD, Pa. CHD Meridian Healthcare, an I-trax company, plans to open a new healthcare center and pharmacy in Gillette, Wyo., that will serve employees of multiple mining companies that have formed a coalition known as the Wyoming Quality Healthcare Coalition.

In March, Walgreens announced the creation of a new Health and Wellness division that will manage health centers and pharmacies at large-company worksites, while continuing the rollout of Take Care Health Clinics located at its retail stores nationwide. As part of the new division’s strategy, Walgreens plans to acquire I-trax and privately held Whole Health Management of Cleveland. Walgreens estimates the current potential market for worksite health centers and pharmacies includes more than 7,600 corporate campuses of 1,000 employees or more.

The new health center is expected to open in July. It will incorporate primary care services, an on-site pharmacy, radiology and lab services. More than 5,200 employees, their covered dependents and retirees, will have access to the center. It will be staffed by about 15 healthcare and administrative professionals, including a wellness professional.

“We are pleased that the Wyoming Quality Healthcare Coalition, through its rigorous search process, selected CHD Meridian to work with them to create this new center,” stated R. Dixon Thayer, chief executive officer of CHD Meridian. “We believe that selecting us is recognition of our 40-year-plus history of providing on-site healthcare services to some of this country’s largest employers.”

The coalition is comprised of three mining holding companies including Foundation Coal West, Powder River Coal Company and Rio Tinto Energy America and their affiliates.
