IMPAX, Actavis Wellbutrin generics approved

HAYWARD, Calif. The Food and Drug Administration has approved IMPAX Laboratories' generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's antidepressant Wellbutrin, IMPAX said in a statement Monday.

It also approved Icelandic generic drug maker Actavis' version, Actavis said Monday. 

IMPAX is selling the drug, known generically as bupropion hydrochloride, in a 150 mg, extended-release formulation. 

Wellbutrin XL 150 mg had sales of $1.48 billion in the 12 months ending in September, according to IMS Health data.
