JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — Innovation, makers of PharmAssist pharmacy automation solutions, announced that Ed's Rx Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in Fairfield, Ill., successfully implemented a RxSafe 1800 robotic storage and retrieval system to help with increased efficiency and accuracy of the pharmacy's prescription-filling and inventory processes.

“I wanted to refocus our business on taking care of people and being known for caring about their health. With the RxSafe helping us to be more efficient and virtually eliminating any opportunity for error, we’ve changed the culture and image of our pharmacy,” said Ed Potts, R.Ph. and owner, Ed’s Rx Medicine Shoppe. “Our staff now has the time to concentrate on patient-related services such as medication synchronization, compliance packaging, compounding, clinical activities, and home medical offerings.”

For inventory, Potts said the system helped streamline important inventory tasks — automating inventory put-away and pinpointing expired product — which helps to save moeny each year. The pharmacy fills 280 prescription a day on average.

"We’re in a rather small rural area and retaining our existing customers is vital to our ongoing success. RxSafe has definitely been a worthy investment as it has helped us redeploy staff to provide patient services and to reshape our image as true healthcare providers,” Potts said.
