Intas Biopharmaceuticals to purchase BPD

AHMEDABAD, India Poway, Calif.-based biotechnology company Biologists Process Development has a new owner.

Intas Biopharmaceuticals announced Friday that it was in the process of acquiring BPD for an undisclosed sum. Intas hopes the acquisition will expedite its entry into the U.S. market, particularly in the area of contract research and manufacturing services, also known as CRAMS.

Scott Brown will remain president and chief scientific officer of BPD, while Rajeev Datar will become the new chief executive officer.

“With Intas Biopharmaceuticals and BPD coming together, the two companies complement technical strengths of each other,” Datar said.
