Japanese study finds no adverse psychological effects from flu vaccine

7/11/2008

TOKYO A study out of Japan has found no evidence that Roche’s flu drug Tamiflu causes suicidal behavior in teenagers.

Reports surfaced last year that young people taking the drug had jumped from buildings. In response, Japanese regulators placed warnings on the drug to people aged 10 to 19. The drug is used heavily in Japan.

The study, which examined 10,000 people younger than 18 who had received flu diagnoses, found that those who used Tamiflu were less likely to display abnormal behavior than those who did not.
