Kronos develops lifestyle course for prediabetic adults

7/11/2008

PHOENIX Kronos Optimal Health announced Thursday that it has created a lifestyle management course for adults with prediabetes.

Prediabetes, which affects more than 54 million Americans, results from blood sugar that is abnormally high but not high enough to be considered diabetes. By some estimates, 60 percent prediabetics can avoid developing diabetes through lifestyle choices.

Kronos’ program is a 14-week course designed to delay or prevent type-2 diabetes by encouraging understanding the causes of prediabetes and ways to lower blood sugar while making changes in lifestyle and eating healthier foods.

“When someone is prediabetic, they don’t qualify for a disease management program because they are not diabetic,” Kronos medical director Susan Kaib said. “Helping people lower their risks before a disease is much more effective.”
