Lewis Drug is growing its reach in six communities across the three states it serves. The Sioux Falls, S.D.-based chain has purchased the pharmacy assets, including prescription files and records, from six Shopko stores.
The Shopko pharmacies are in the South Dakota communities of Madison, Mitchell and Sisseton; Minnesota areas of Luverne and St. James; and Isa Grove, Ia. The company said it currently operates in four of these communities, with plans to open a new Aberdeen, S.D. location, which will serve a community where Shopko ceased pharmacy operations in January.
“These transactions demonstrate our continued commitment to serving our patients in the Tri-State area,” said Lewis Drug president and CEO Mark Griffin. “As we celebrate our seventy-sixth year in business, I'm proud to say that Pharmacy is still our cornerstone.”
Once its new locations open, Lewis Drug will operate 58 pharmacies in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.
