MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — McKesson Pharmacy Systems on Monday announced the 7.0 release of EnterpriseRx, a cloud-delivered pharmacy management system that fully integrates promise-time workflow for prescription processing, centralizes data for pharmacies with multiple sites and incorporates a wide array of McKesson and vendor partner solutions to provide seamless adherence, clinical and business services.
“EnterpriseRx continues to set the industry standard for achieving pharmacy workflow efficiency, patient safety and adherence performance,” said Bernie Reese, SVP and general manager, McKesson Pharmacy Systems. “Not only do our timely, preemptive patient communication tools support these objectives, but they also serve to nurture the one-on-one, personal relationship between the pharmacist and patient.”
“This release of EnterpriseRx has already had a tremendous impact on our pharmacy operations,” stated Jeremy Schrader, Pharmacy Systems Analyst, Wegmans. “The patient communication tool allows us to seamlessly communicate with customers in real time – plus, we can craft custom, on-demand text message templates unique to our business and patient needs.”
EnterpriseRx 7.0 facilitates a closer connection between pharmacists and their patients through expanded patient communication. Enhanced patient communication options allow pharmacies to automatically notify patients during various stages of the prescription filling process based on each patient’s preferred method of communication, such as phone, text or email. Such notification options help reduce the number of abandoned prescriptions and promote medication adherence, which, in turn, allows pharmacies to achieve payer contract requirements, increase reimbursements, and potentially reduce DIR fees.
The new release also offers customized alerts that can be built into pharmacy workflow to afford an extra level of attention to patients. Pharmacy staff can create alerts for special instructions, communication preferences and counseling opportunities within a patient’s profile; subsequently, these alerts appear as prompts at the appropriate interval in workflow.
Release 7.0 also includes enhancements to patient safety and security. A new safety-check feature allows pre-verification to be performed twice before a prescription can move forward in workflow. This extra precaution is particularly beneficial to central mail facilities where final verification is conducted by an automated system. In addition, pharmacies now have more control over the security of patient data through local administration of EnterpriseRx user account settings and biometric fingerprint authentication for pharmacy staff.
MPS will soon augment EnterpriseRx 7.0 with a 7.1 Service Pack that will enhance the Clinical Programs Solution platform to allow pharmacies to manage MTM opportunities. Release 7.1 will also activate the Inventory Optimization Toolkit for independent retail pharmacies in shared EnterpriseRx database environments so that they can interface with supply chain vendors to optimize their inventory.
