Mich. physician group reaches 1 million e-prescriptions

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich. A physician group that facilitates information exchange between physicians and other healthcare providers announced Monday that its affiliated healthcare providers in southeastern Michigan have sent more than 1 million electronic prescriptions.

My One Health Information Exchange, also known as My1HIE, has worked with physicians to help them adopt e-prescribing using its myWorkspace physician Web portal and become the largest group of independent physicians using e-prescribing in Michigan. 

"In our complex world of medication interactions, allergies and multiple insurance formularies, not to mention sheer volume of prescriptions we write on a daily basis, e-prescribing has dramatically improved the efficiency, safety and traceability of prescribing for physicians and staff," Henry Ford Macomb Hospital doctor and My1HIE user Jerome Finkel said in a statement.
