MinuteClinic joins CCA
MINNEAPOLIS CVS’ MinuteClinic, which is the largest provider of in-store health clinics, has further solidified the growing importance of the convenient care industry by joining the Convenient Care Association.
“We are pleased to join our colleagues in the Convenient Care Association as we work collectively to shape the future of retail health care,” stated Michael Howe, chief executive officer of MinuteClinic, in a statement issued to Drug Store News. “As the industry leader, MinuteClinic looks forward to sharing its vision and operational expertise and drawing upon the experience of other CCA members to further develop this innovative concept which makes high quality health care more accessible and affordable for all Americans.”
MinuteClinic launched the first retail health care centers in the United States in 2000 and is the first provider to establish a national presence with more than 275 locations across the country.
The CCA, whose mission is to strengthen and advance the convenient care model of health care, was founded by health care leaders in September 2006. Since the first in-store health clinic opened in 2000, the convenient care industry quickly flourished. Today, there are more than 500 such clinics operated by over a dozen companies across America.
