Mylan announces launch of generic Loestrin 24 Fe

PITTSBURGH — Mylan on Wednesday announced the launch of norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol tablets USP, 1 mg/0.02 mg and ferrous fumarate, which is the generic equivalent to Loestrin 24 Fe from Warner Chilcott. The drug is used for the prevention of pregnancy in women who wish to use oral contraceptives as a method of contraception, the company said. Mylan has commenced shipping of the product. 

 

Norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol tablets USP, 1 mg/0.02 mg and ferrous fumarate has sales in the United States of approximately $24.4 million for the 12 months ending Sept. 30, 2014, according to IMS Health data.
