WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy named Rebecca Shanahan president and Mike Agostino president-elect effective Jan. 1.
Each served on the non-profit organization’s board of directors and executive committee. Shanahan, a 20-plus year industry veteran and CEO of Avella Specialty Pharmacy, is succeeding Burt Zweigenhaft in the role.
"NASP is a strong organization with over 1,300 corporate and individual members combined, all of whom are well-known for their thorough understanding of specialty pharmacy and commitment to unifying the voice of the field," said Shanahan. "I'm excited about this opportunity to lead the organization to even greater heights of success."
NASP is the only national association for all stakeholders in the specialty pharmacy industry. The core mission of NASP is to provide continuing education programs to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals working in specialty pharmacy, a growing pharmacy discipline that dispenses and manages specialized medications for chronic, rare, and/or complex conditions.
"I'm looking forward to working with Rebecca in her role as president," said Agostino. "I'm eager to begin propelling the organization forward toward an even better position that will ultimately benefit our members and position NASP as the voice of the specialty pharmacy industry."
