NCR unveils secure self-service prescription drop-off kiosk

DAYTON, Ohio NCR Monday introduced a new self-service kiosk for dropping off and paying for prescriptions at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Pharmacy & Technology Conference in San Diego.

The kiosk, known as Prescription Drop-off, allows customers to securely submit new prescriptions and refill requests while avoiding lines. After making their requests, customers receive bar coded receipts, while the request is forwarded to pharmacists. After the order is ready, customers receive notification by email, phone or text message.

A recent study by Wilson Health Information found that 70 percent of drug store customers would like to see self-service kiosks at pharmacies.
