N.C.'s Lt. Gov. applauds Kerr Drug, launches ChecKmeds NC

RALEIGH, N.C. North Carolina’s Lt. Governor, Bev Perdue, visited the Kerr Drug at North Hills Mall in Raleigh Thursday to announce the official launch of ChecKmeds NC, a medication therapy management program.

Perdue, who chairs the North Carolina Heatlh and Wellness Trust Fund Commission, gave kudos to Kerr Drug for its leadership in promoting senior health care.

“Perdue and Kerr Drug have always shared a common goal in promoting senior health care in our state, “ says Tony Civello, president and chief executive officer of Kerr Drug, and past chairman of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. “The partnership is natural because issues such as medical assistance to seniors, including senior prescription drug costs, have always been at the top of Perdue’s agenda and are the central focus of Kerr Drug’s initiatives.”

ChecKmeds NC, which is funded by the HWTFC, helps ensure seniors are taking the right medication in the best manner. “ChecKmeds NC is a groundbreaking program for seniors in our state,” says Perdue, who was a health care advocate and Director of Geriatrics at Craven Regional Medical Center prior to becoming an elected North Carolina official. “This critical pharmacist counseling will not only help our seniors save money, it could improve their health or save their lives.”
