New FLAVORx app takes aim at kids’ adherence

8/10/2015

COLUMBIA, Md. — FLAVORx has launched a new iPhone app to make it easier for patients to find the closest of the 40,000 pharmacies that offer flavored medication — and hopefully increase adherence rates among children.

“We are always looking for new, innovative ways to help people take their medicine, as well as better connect health care providers to their patients,” FLAVORx President and CEO Stuart R. Amos said. “Our new app leverages the immense popularity of the iPhone, especially among parents of young children, to accomplish both goals.”

The app lets parents choose a medication and a flavor, then find a nearby pharmacy where they can get the flavored medication. The app can also be used by physicians and pharmacists as a way to improve outcomes, the company said, especially in light of studies showing that seven-in-10 parents struggle to give their child medicine, partially because of the taste.
