New pharmacy school opens in Vermont

9/10/2009

COLCHESTER, Vt. A new pharmacy school has opened in Colchester, Vt., according to local reports.

The new campus is part of the Albany College of Pharmacy. The college's president, James J. Gozzo, said the 62,000-sq.-ft. building was "because it offers the combination of location and state-of-the-art facilities we need."

The initial class of 77 students was chosen from among more than 1,200 applicants. Twelve faculty members were hired for the first year, and more will be added as the school expands over the next three years -- with additional classes of about 70 students each, bringing total enrollment to about 280, according to a Burlington Free Press report.
