Newly established J&J diabetes institute debuts training center

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. On Friday, the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute will open its first training center in the United States in Milpitas, Calif. This institute was started last October in hoped to address the more than 180 million people worldwide who have diabetes, according to the World Health Organization.

The center works by offering health care professionals a two-day intensive course which emphasizes training on innovative practice models and way to use existing diabetes tools and technologies in real time to solve patients’ problems. This includes receiving training and access to new Web-based technologies just becoming available that show fluctuations in patients’ blood glucose levels by the hour.

The Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute already operates a training facility in Japan and by the middle of this year, plans on opening new centers in China and France.
