Oren Peacock Jr. receives highest NACDS honor
SAN DIEGO The National Association of Chain Drug Stores gave its highest award to pharmacy veteran Oren Peacock Jr. at its 2008 Pharmacy & Technology Conference Tuesday.
NACDS President and chief executive officer Steve Anderson presented the Harold W. Pratt Award to Peacock, who serves as a consultant to CVS Caremark. Peacock graduated from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 1962 and began his pharmacy career with Eckerd. He had several leadership positions with Eckerd before joining CVS. He also served two terms as president of the Texas Board of Pharmacy and one term as president of the Texas Federation of Drug Stores, as well as serving as president of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. He is now chairman of NABP’s executive committee.
“As an association, the most fundamental thing we must do is work together, and Oren embodies the collaborative spirit of NACDS,” Anderson said. “Viewed as a mentor by many, Oren is known for his ability to bring people together to discuss critical issues in a professional, dignified manner.”
