Organizations band together to push healthcare reform

1/7/2009

WASHINGTON Professional organizations representing medicine, the pharmaceutical industry and others have created a television advertisement to promote healthcare reform as soon as possible as the new Congress and the Obama Administration take office.

Six organizations‹the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America, American Medical Association, Families USA, Regence BlueCross BlueShield and the Service Employees International Union‹said they would unveil details of the new ad Thursday, prior to Senator Tom Daschle’s, D-S.D., conformation hearing. The screening will take place at 9 a.m. at AMA’s headquarters, at 25 Massachusetts Ave. NW in Washington.

The ad will say that fixing the ailing economy requires healthcare reform that remedies rising costs and loss of coverage across the country.
