Pair of pharmacists sell provider of remote pharmacy services

WICHITA, Kan. A company that sought to address the national pharmacist shortage by providing services remotely to hospitals in rural areas of Kansas has a new owner, the Wichita Eagle reported Tuesday.

Via Christi Health System bought Frontier Pharmacy Services, a company started by Wichita pharmacists Tim Smith and Mark Gagnon, for an undisclosed sum. Via Christi plans to launch the service this fall, starting at hospitals in Pittsburg and Manhattan, Kan.

The article reported that six counties in Kansas have no pharmacists, while 31 have one pharmacist or pharmacy.
