Par Pharmaceutical ships generic Megace ES

CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y. — Par Pharmaceutical Thursday announced that it has begun shipping the authorized generic version of Megace ES (megestrol acetate, USP) oral suspension, which includes a progestin indicated for the treatment of anorexia, cachexia and an unexplained significant weight loss in AIDS patients.

The announcement follows another company’s launch of the first generic version of Megace ES. 

During the first quarter of 2015, Par's net sales of Megace ES, which is available in 150 mL bottles, amounted to $4.9 million.
