Perrigo applies to FDA for generic Vanos

ALLEGAN, Mich. Perrigo has filed an application with the Food and Drug Administration for fluocinonide cream 0.1 percent, a generic version of Vanos, the company announced Monday.

Fluocinonide cream is a corticosteroid for treating inflammation and itching caused by certain skin conditions in patients at least 12 years of age. Vanos, a product of Medicis Pharmaceutical, had sales of $27 million during the 12 months ending in April.

Medicis filed a suit against Perrigo on June 6 alleging patent infringement in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
