Pharmacy technician students learn with latest technology

DENVER Students learning to be pharmacy technicians at Arapahoe Community College are learning their trade with the latest pharmacy technology, according to a statement on behalf of the college.

The students, undergoing the college's pharmacy technician certificate program, have been using an automated dispensing machine for about two semesters. The Littleton, Colo., college's statement did not specify the machine's manufacturer, but described it as "state-of-the-art" and said it was of the same type that pharmacists around the country use.

"Automation in pharmacies is a big deal," the college's pharmacy tech academic coordinator Larry Allen said in the statement. "Automation in pharmacies is a big deal, especially in hospitals."
