Pharmline releases findings from double-blind study testing UTI treatment for women

10/15/2008

REYSSOUZE, France Pharmline and Burgundy Botanical Extracts have released the results of a more than 5-month long study into the efficacy of their product on UTIRose on treating urinary tract infections in women.

UTIRose contains a natural extract derived from the hibiscus flower. A 168-day long study of more than 60 women between the ages of 18 and 55 completed in July found that about 77 percent experienced a reduction in the number of UTIs, versus those who took a placebo and had no response.

More than 60 percent of women will experience at least one UTI in their lifetimes. Urological problems cost more than $3.5 billion a year in medical costs in 2007, the U.S. National Institutes of Health has reported.
