PioneerRx announces support of Apple Pay

SHREVEPORT, La. — PioneerRx on Tuesday announced that it will immediately begin deliving Apple Pay service to its customers. Apple Pay supplies consumers with a secure way to make mobile payments.

 

“This is cutting-edge technology we’re excited to offer our pharmacies,” said Jeff Key, managing director of PioneerRx. “With current headlines announcing large retailers with data breaches, this technology allows our customers to offer a more secure payment option that many of their competitors cannot. This creates an immediate market advantage for our independent pharmacies.”

 

This technology is supported in PioneerRx pharmacies, which currently have an Equinox L5300 Signature Pad. Apple Pay differs from a traditional credit card purchase in that it utilizes a device account number to complete the transaction. This results in receipts and reports that only reveal the device account number rather than the last four digits of the customer's credit card, the company said.
