Report: H1N1 shot can actively protect adults
NEW YORK One dose of the new H1N1 flu vaccine looks strong enough to protect adults and can spark protection within 10 days of the shot, according to researchers.
As reported by Reuters, the results mean it should be able to vaccinate all of the 159 million high-risk people in the U.S. well before the flu's mid-winter peak.
"This is quite good news," stated Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes for Health.
Reuters also reported that MedImmune, an AstraZeneca unit, stated its inhaled H1N1 flu vaccine will be ready by the end of September.
