Reports: U.S. experiencing Tamiflu shortage
NEW YORK Increased demand for a popular antiviral drug, spurred by the worldwide influenza A(H1N1) pandemic, has caused a nationwide shortage, according to published reports.
Pharmacies nationwide are reporting shortages of Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate), made by Swiss drug maker Roche, prompting some to create children’s doses by converting adult dosage capsules to liquid form using a Food and Drug Administration-approved method until more children’s doses can be manufactured.
