Rite Aid makes MMR vaccine available at Los Angeles pharmacies

Due to the growing number of measles cases being reported in the United States, Rite Aid is looking to lend a helping hand to those looking on getting vaccinated.

The Camp Hill, Pa.-based retailer announced that the Measles-Mumps-Rubella, or MMR, vaccine available upon request at pharmacies across California, including Los Angeles.

Those interested in getting a vaccine do not need to make an appointment, they simply need to visit the pharmacy during normal pharmacy business hours to receive the shot.

Currently, there are five confirmed cases of measles in Los Angeles County, and numerous sites have been identified for exposure, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Health.

Rite Aid pharmacists can protect patients 3 years of age and older with an MMR vaccine without a prescription, the company said.

In addition, the CDC recommends children get two doses of MMR vaccine. The first dose at 12 to 15 months of age and the second at 4 to 6 years of age.
