Sandoz, Teva introduce generic Altace

PRINCETON, N.J. Sandoz and Teva have announced the introduction and availability of ramipril capsules, a generic equivalent of Altace. Altace is used to treat hypertension and prevent heart problems.

Sandoz is marketing ramipril capsules in 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg strengths. Teva is marketing the generic in 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg strengths, in bottle sizes of 100.

According to IMS Health, Altace had sales of about $920 million in 2007.
