Schnucks debuts new layout design in its DeKalb store

11/30/2007

ST. LOUIS Schnucks Markets is preparing for its new store opening in DeKalb, Mo., and is now finishing up the final touches on the new concepts the store will have for its customers.

The new unit is a variation of a floor plan that recently debuted elsewhere in St. Louis. “Our engineers came up with an exciting floor plan that includes wider, family friendly aisles,” noted store manager Dave Sherman. “At 58,000 square feet, it’s a full-service food and drug store, but the new layout makes it possible to shop only those areas of the stores you need. There is nothing like it in the market.”

The store offers a custom floral department, in-store bakery, expansive deli department, seafood section and full-service meat department. The deli includes a made-to-order sandwich shop, a fresh-soup kiosk, a food and salad bar and an olive bar.

“Our DeKalb store will be one of the first to open with all of the new amenities we have added over the past few months,” said Scott Schnuck, chairman and chief executive officer of Schnucks. “Along with our quality products and services, we [will] bring added value through our new low pricing philosophy, grand opening values and our newly launched Free Generic Prescription Antibiotic Program.”

The store has a drive-up pharmacy. Schnucks recently said its pharmacies will offer for free up to a 21-day supply of 54 antibiotics in seven different families (including the often prescribed amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin and penicillin) to customers with a valid prescription.
