6/12/2017
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Smith Drug has named a new divisional VP finance following the promotion of Kyle Waltz, who will become Smith Drug parent company J M Smith’s VP corporate controller. Lena Jouran will take over the role, supporting both Smith Drug and Burlington Drug.

“Lena brings with her an extensive background in managing the finance complexities of the pharmacy supply chain,” Smith Drug president Jeff Foreman said. “We are excited to have her join the team and expect she will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”

Jouran was most recently at Walgreens, where she was finance director, pharmacy procurement, supply chain and Rx insights. In that role, she led a team that supported two business units managing more than $4 billion of inventory. To maximize vendor negotiations, Jouran worked closely with the Walgreens Global Procurement Organization.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to come to Smith Drug Co.,” Jouran said. “The leadership team is implementing strategies designed to help them, and their customers, achieve great things. I am looking forward to applying my industry knowledge and experience to the challenges of this competitive industry.”

Jouran held leadership positions with PepsiAmericas and ConAgra Food before joining Walgreens. She will be relocating to Spartanburg to join the Smith Drug team.

“Lena’s knowledge of the pharmacy industry, especially the procurement and supply chains, is impressive,” Foreman said. “I am confident everyone on our team, including suppliers and customers, will appreciate working with her.”
