TelaDoc report supports telehealth initiatives
DALLAS An increasing amount of evidence supports using telehealth for routine care as well as chronic disease as many Americans wrestle with challenges in accessing quality, affordable health care, according to TelaDoc Medical Services.
A revised white paper by Kenneth Moritsugu, former acting surgeon general of the United States, says telehealth is an effective application for tackling specific issues related to health care.
The paper, titled “Telephone Connectivity Supports Medical Home Model and Removes Barriers to Care,” examines the wide-ranging effects and value of telehealth in helping the medical home model to address coordination of care for individuals with episodic and chronic diseases.
“Effective telehealth programs have the real potential to improve the health and well-being of individuals, the communities in whith they live, work, and play and all society,” Moritsugu wrote.
