Teva creates generic version of J&J's Risperdal

NORTH WALES, Pa. Teva Pharmaceuticals has introduced a generic version of Johnson & Johnson's Risperdal oral solution, the Israeli generic drug maker's United States subsidiary announced Friday.

The drug is used to treat schizophrenia. Teva?s version, risperidone oral solution, will be available in 30 mL bottles in the 1 mg per mL strength. 

The branded version of the drug had sales of $2.2 billion in 2007, according to J&J financial data.
