Teva introduces generic Depakote

NORTH WALES, Pa. Teva has introduced its new drug, divalproex sodium delayed release tablets. This is a generic of Abbott Laboratories’ seizure and convulsion treatment drug Depakote.

The generic will be available in 125, 250, and 500 strengths, with the 125 mg being available in bottles of 100 and the 250 and 500 being offered in bottle sizes of 100 and 500.

According to IMS Health, Depakote had sales of about $803 million for the 12 months that ended March 2008.
