Publix adds online flu shot scheduler

Interested in getting a flu shot at Publix?

Now figuring what day or time to stop by is as easy as scheduling an appointment online.

The new service offered by Publix Pharmacy not only allows patients to make an appointment for when they please but also allows them to sign consent forms prior to their arrival, therefore reducing the amount of time spent waiting while the paperwork is processed.

“Due to the recent pandemic, the demand for flu vaccinations is higher than usual, and the health and safety of our customers and associates continue to be a top priority,” Publix’s vice president of pharmacy, Dain Rusk said. “Providing our patients the opportunity to schedule their flu vaccines and complete their consent form will assist with social distancing measures as well as enhance customer experience at our pharmacies.”

At the moment, only flu shots can be scheduled via the flu shot backend of the Publix website.

There are plans to enhance the service, in order for patients to select multiple vaccinations for each appointment, including those for hepatitis A and B, HPV, measles, mumps, rubella, meningitis, pneumonia, shingles, tetanus, Tdap and varicella, the company said.
