Publix applies recent COVID-19 vaccine eligibility expansion in Florida

In keeping in accordance to the state of Florida’s COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, Publix announced that those who are 40 years old and older are now able to schedule an appointment at participating pharmacies.

The Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer’s pharmacies will begin vaccinating individuals who fall under this expansion on March 29.

In addition, Publix will continue to prioritize teachers, school staff and child care workers in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.

Once those in the prioritized groups have made their appointments, the remaining dates and times will be available to other eligible individuals, the company said.

Those who fall under the Monday scheduling opportunity will be given Wednesday – Friday appointments for the Moderna vaccine, those under the Wednesday scheduling opportunity will be given Saturday and Sunday appointments for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and lastly, those with Friday scheduling opportunities will be given Monday and Tuesday apportionment days for the Moderna vaccine.
