Albertsons appoints new EVP, chief merchandising officer
Albertsons’ leadership team is undergoing a change.
The company announced that Own Brands president, Geoff White, has been appointed to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
“Geoff is a customer-centric leader who brings a unique combination of creativity and analytics to achieve growth,” Vivek Sankaran, the president and chief executive officer of Albertsons, said. “I look forward to working with him to transform our merchandising capabilities.”
White began his career with Albertsons as a general clerk at a Safeway in Canada in 1981. Since then, he has taken on such roles as director of Canadian produce operations for 210 locations, leadership roles in various Safeway departments and senior vice president of marketing and merchandising for the Northern California division.
In 2017, he took over as Own Brands president, and since then has grown penetration from 23.0% to 25.3%, the company said.
