Giant Eagle will be acquiring Ricker’s, the 56-store convenience chain that’s based in Anderson, Ind., according to a report in the
Indiana Business Journal. Citing Ricker’s chairman Jay Ricker,
IBJ said that Giant Eagle was planning to keep all 850 Ricker’s employees.
As part of the acquisition, whose financial terms weren’t disclosed, Ricker’s president and COO Quinn Ricker will join the Pittsburgh-based supermarket chain to oversee the stores’ operations, the report said.
Giant Eagle currently operates one Market District store in Indiana, as well as six GetGo Cafe and Markets, with
IBJ noting that a seventh is set to open in October. The report said Giant Eagle did not have immediate plans to rebrand the Ricker’s stores as GetGo stores.
