Giant Food Stores to acquire Ferguson & Hassler

Giant Food Stores announced that it has entered into an agreement with Ferguson & Hassler to acquire its Quarryville, Pa., store located at 100 TownsEdge Drive.

“We were thrilled when the Hassler family contacted us about their beautiful store,” Nicholas Bertram, the president of Giant Food Stores said. “We recognize the important role this store plays in the Quarryville community and we can’t wait to begin serving the loyal customers of Ferguson & Hassler’s and introduce them to the very best of the Giant brand, which many customers throughout Lancaster County have enjoyed for more than 20 years.”

Once the sale is complete, the Carlisle, Pa.-based retailer will temporarily close the newly acquired location for approximately one week to complete a store remodel and on-site fuel station.

The company plans on reopening the location as a Giant store in late June of this year.

Features services in the remodeled location are to include online grocery ordering that can be picked via curbside or delivered with Giant Direct, Powered by Peapod.

In addition, Ferguson & Hassler associates will be able to interview with Giant for a job opportunity. The retailer currently operates nine stores in Lancaster County, employing more than 1,400 associates, the company added.
