Hartig Drug has a new face at the helm, albeit with a known name. The Dubuque, Iowa-based company has named Charlie Hartig CEO. He takes over from outgoing CEO Keith Bibelhausen.
Hartig’s industry experience includes the role of senior legal counsel at CVS Health, in which he advised management on the operation of the company’s pharmacy assets. He also has worked at Omnicare, where, as in his role at CVS Health, he led efforts to expand pharmacists’ scope of practice, including immunization authority. He also worked to ensure compliance with applicable health laws. Hartig has a doctor of pharmacy degree from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Science and a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law.
“I am excited and honored to take on this role in our family business and to continue to support Hartig Drug Co., its mission, and the local tri-state communities that we serve,” Hartig said. “I look forward to expanding Hartig Drug Co.’s healthcare offerings, focus on pharmacy clinical services, and continue to expand local goods in our retail locations.”
The company’s chairman, Richard Hartig thanked Bibelhausen for his time at the helm of the company.
“[Bibelhausen] has played a large part of our family and Hartig Drug Company over the last several years, and we are sincerely thankful for his time, energy and service. This planned
transition is part of Hartig Drug Co.’s long-term strategic goals,” he said. “Charlie’s past experience with the largest pharmacy industry company in the country has and will continue to be an advantage for Hartig Drug Co. We are happy and excited to have him back in the tri-state area and he will be instrumental in growing Hartig Drug Company as the local chain expands its physical footprint and health care offerings in the tri-state area.”
