Rite Aid Foundation to support Folds of Honor with additional $6M

05/28/2019
The Rite Aid Foundation is once again supporting Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to children of military service members killed or wounded while serving. Over Memorial Day weekend, the company pledged $6 million to the organization over the next three years. Since 2015, the Rite Aid Foundation has awarded Folds of Honor more than $13 million.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Folds of Honor and help advance the important work we are doing together,” said Bill Renz, Rite Aid senior vice president of category management and Rite Aid Foundation board member. “Since first partnering with Folds of Honor in 2015, The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded nearly 1,600 educational scholarships totaling over $7 million to the families of our military heroes. We know these scholarships make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families who receive them, and we look forward to making an even greater impact over the next three years.”

Renz announced the commitment alongside Folds of Honor founder Maj. Dan Rooney as part of the organization’s annual Patriot Cup Invitational golf tournament and gala, which raises funds for Folds of Honor.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Folds of Honor and help advance the important work we are doing together,” said Renz.

Rooney, an Oklahoma Air National Guard pilot, founded Folds of Honor in 2007, and since then it has awarded nearly 20,000 scholarships to members of fallen or disabled service members.

“Since 2015, Rite Aid has been an incredible and steadfast partner for Folds of Honor and we are incredibly thankful for their continuous support,” Rooney said. “Time and time again, Rite Aid has proven themselves a caring neighbor to our nation’s fallen or disabled servicemen and women and their families. We cannot thank them enough for their tremendous support in helping the children of our military heroes gain access to better educational opportunities, and ultimately, brighter futures.”

The Rite Aid Foundation awards Folds of Honor scholarships through its KidCents program, which focuses on improving the health and well-being of children in the communities Rite Aid serves. KidCents allows Wellness+ Rewards members to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar to donate the change to KidCents.
